This program provides a $1,000 bonus payment to newly hired drivers who meet eligibility requirements and who are active at the time of the scheduled payout.
Full time drivers with at least six months recent Tractor Trailer driving experience who meet all hiring requirements and live within 100 miles (2 hours) of the Williamsport terminal. Domiciles are Harrisonburg, VA; Carlisle, Somerset, & York, PA; Frederick and Williamsport, MD.
Increase effectiveness in recruiting experienced drivers for PCs 03 & 04 for domiciles within 100 miles of Williamsport, MD and to reward drivers who already have their HazMat on license.
For drivers who have HAZMAT on license when they arrive for orientation
1st $500 of Sign On Bonus will be paid after driver has been solo 1 week (after check ride) of uninterrupted full time employment with no accidents, service failures, load refusals or safety violations.
2nd $500 of Sign on Bonus will be paid after driver has been solo 30 days (after check ride) of uninterrupted full time employment with no accidents, service failures, load refusals or safety violations.
For drivers who do not have all TWIC and Passport when they arrive for orientation:
D.M. Bowman, Inc will assist newly hired drivers in obtaining their TWIC and Passport.
If he/she does not have TWIC or Passport, we will schedule them to enroll/apply as needed on the Thursday after classroom orientation is successfully completed and the company will pay for each credential.(Company will pay maximum $105 for TWIC card and $55 for Passport card).
Rate per Mile:
All drivers hired under this program will be hired at current mileage rate for the assigned domicile of the assigned PC.
Driver Services is responsible for maintaining a record of program participation and will verify with the responsible driver manager the driver’s uninterrupted full time employment, accident record, service failures, load refusals and safety violations.
Any payment received through this program is considered compensation and is subject to taxes. An employee who receives reimbursement under this program, and who makes the decision to voluntarily leave the company within six months of the date of hire, will be required to reimburse the company for whatever funds received for the Sign On bonus or the cost of the credentials. The company reserves the right to deduct any repayable funds from the final payroll proceeds or to bill the employee for reimbursement. This program becomes effective, initially, on December 4, 2012. D.M. Bowman reserves the right to change and/or discontinue this program at any time.
Any Full-Time D.M. Bowman, Inc. Driver and any safe, qualified team hired.
Drivers must be available for work every day (with the exception of a 34 hour restart) and work every day of the period that they are scheduled to work. All loads must be delivered on time.
All safety, attendance and performance requirements must be met to be eligible for the bonus. Any safety, performance, or attendance problem will disqualify a driver from receiving the bonus.
This bonus is designed to aid D.M. Bowman, Inc. in finding, hiring, developing safe, qualified teams to run team freight as required.
This bonus is offered as a means by which to enhance earning potential for drivers who generally run solo as well as enhance the hiring process for team runs. This bonus is also intended to insure that our equipment, performance and safety requirements are met.
Full Time D.M. Bowman, Inc. Drivers who agree to team up and run safely and efficiently will receive $1000 each after one month of running together as a team. If they continue to run together as a team for 11 months after that (year total), they will each receive another $1500.
For newly hired teams, this program acts as a Sign On Bonus. The newly hired teams will receive $1000 each after running together one month safely and efficiently. Eleven months after that, if they continue to run together as a team, they will receive another $1500 each.
Earned bonuses will be paid through the normal payroll processes, following the close of each pay period. A driver must be on the company payroll system the day the bonus is paid to receive a bonus.
Time off from work can disqualify a driver from this program; for drivers with one year with the company, vacation and personal days scheduled and approved two weeks in advance of the time of request will not disqualify a driver from the bonus.
A driver can protect bonus eligibility by using available vacation or days for absences listed below:
* Birth of child. (Maximum of 3 days of absence).
* Court appearance, i.e., subpoena, provided timely notice to the supervisor.
If a driver has vacation or personal days left, but chooses not to use those days, the driver forfeits the bonus.
If a driver does not have any vacation or personal time and must miss work for the reasons listed, and all other eligibility criteria are met, the driver will receive the bonus.

The value of this bonus program is considered compensation and is subject to taxes. The value of these bonuses is not considered compensation for the 401(k) Plan or the Profit Sharing Plan. D.M. Bowman, Inc. reserves the right to change this program or to discontinue this program at any time.
